10 Times People Got Called Out and Embarrassed Online

Via: fuckgnomes on Reddit

Anybody can say whatever they feel like on the internet. That can be liberating and interesting, but it can also lead to a lot of…yanno, lies and nonsense. And while you might be able to get away with that some of the time, more often than not you’re gonna get called out. If you want to avoid that kind of embarrassment, there are a few simple rules you can follow.

Here are the 10 commandments of posting comments on the internet.

10. Thou shalt read a science book

Please make sure you have some idea what you’re talking about before you spread these tidbits.

9. Thou shalt not falsify thy service

Stolen valor and anti-vax? Bad move, dude.

8. Thou shalt not steal

Their art isn’t your art.

7. Thou shalt not bear false witness

Platforms make bad reviews really hard to remove. If you add them recklessly you’re doing everybody a disservice.

6. Thou shalt not mistreat a dog

Come on, what’s wrong with you?

5. Thou shalt not boast

Nice homophobia ya mixed in there.

4. Thou shalt not envy

Showing off your good works is already kinda iffy, showing off someone else’s and claiming them as your own? No good.

3. Thou shalt not copy/paste

You would not believe how many people steal tweets from each other.

2. Thou shalt not take advantage

This feels like a chess game and I hate every move.

1. Thou shalt not spread misinformation

Check your sources, people.

And lo, with these commandments followed, the internet did henceforth become a better place, and there was much rejoicing. Amen.

What’s the greatest call out you’ve ever been witness to?
