The internet has connected pretty much everybody with pretty much everybody else at this point.

Or at least, it has given us the ability to make that happen.

But when you’re bumping into people in the digital ether, you might just find yourself in a situation where you don’t realize who it is you’ve connected with until it’s too late.

Here are 10 amazing times someone on the internet clearly didn’t know who they were talking to.

The guy’s name is Jesse Bright and he’s a criminal defense attorney in North Carolina.

Dude, he’s got the username proof right there in the picture.

7. Tragedy

Jim Benton is a multiple-award winning illustrator and cartoonist.

6. I get Nacht down

llStevell is a prominent YouTube speedrunner.

5. Major error

This is how I feel every time Windows says I need Administrator privileges.

4. Look at this photograph

The note covering the name says “/u/tasty_pepitas sux dicks!!!” Classy.

This dude apparently has a doctorate in Computer Science.

Why is it that the people who have never been to war are the ones who always wanna speak for soldiers?

Dang. I think there’s likely a lesson to be learned here, and that lesson is, check who you’re talking to before you start running your mouth. Otherwise you might end up on a list like this, and nobody wants that.
