If you didn’t already know about the the subreddit r/PrettyGirlsUglyFaces, you need to. Upon reading the name you might fear, as I did, that it’s a mean-spirited place where mostly dude bros congregate to insult women (I know this may be shocking to hear but there are such places on the internet.) Luckily, it’s not that at all. The page describes itself like this:
We want women and men to show us their most recklessly hideous faces.
Do not worry about the subreddit name, friends! We are an all inclusive community here.
The whole thing is kind of a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the fact that looks can be deceiving, and that all of us have the capacity to look beautiful or hilariously hideous if we feel so inclined. As the site points out, it’s not exclusive to women, though women do still make up the majority of the posts.
Here are 12 particularly great examples.
12. Close up
Yes, this is the same person.
11. Horror show
I feel like if I say an evil name into a mirror three times that second picture will appear in my bathroom.
10. Sideways glances
Pic 2 is me every time I try to flirt.
9. Get the lowdown
This is why choice of angle is very important.
8. Teeth twist
Are you being punched by a ghost?
7. Throwing shade
Why so scared?
6. The stare
What really sells this is the weird little hair strand wrapped around the nose.
5. Attack of the bottom lip
She’s clearly seen things no one should see.
4. Chipmunk time
#NoFilter
3. Thexy pichurs
I love that someone is taking her by the shoulders like “Damn it, Linda, not this again.”
2. Lighting change
I don’t want to know what she’s looking at in the first one.
1. Roll up
Even she looks surprised to see her.
Thanks to all the great sports who provide us this entertainment on the subreddit. I tried submitting my own but was told there was “supposed to be at least one that actually looked not horrifying.” Impossible standards, much??
