14 Times that Life Was Art and Art was Life

Via: The_Bard on Reddit

In his highly influential 1889 essay The Decay of Lying, famously witty writer Oscar Wilde said that “Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life.”

But for some of us, distinguishing the difference is like being asked whether a zebra is black with white stripes or white with black stripes.

In either case, there’s no denying that art and life just…link up sometimes. And it may not be in the form of influential essays, but it can definitely pop up on Reddit from time to time, like in these examples.

14. The cat in the that

Oh you think you’re sneaky, huh? Who’s gonna come clean up all these TP you shredded? The painting? Didn’t think so.

13. Get a leg up

“Excuse me, is this bus going uptown?”

12. Spitting image

Now get a grumpy old man in there to complete the set!

11. Flamin’

If I remember my childhood correctly, that should all make it go faster.

10. Butterfly in the sky

I can go twice as high.

9. Very telling

The prophecy has been fulfilled! All hail Fuzzbutt!

8. A whale of a time

“Not so heckin’ cool. I can do a splash. Lookee.”

7. Bombshell

There’s no way this wasn’t intentional.

6. Sidewise reflections

A picture of a cat standing on stairs under a painting of that cat standing on those stairs.
And it’s all sideways.
My brain hurts.

5. There he is!

Oh man, you just missed the kid! We gotta coordinate better.

4. It’s a bust

I don’t think he’s probably noticed yet.

3. No worries for the rest of your days

Now let’s go eat some bugs.

2. Fly away

This is cool, but knowing me I’d never get an opportunity to snap the picture ’cause I’d freak out too hard as soon as it landed on me.

1. The stairway

This is…a surprisingly common theme.

That is fine art at its most finest.

What’s something you do that’s akin to fine art?
