I’m someone who enjoys cooking and baking, trying new recipes and honing old ones, but let’s face it – even people who like to cook don’t want to do it three meals a day, seven days a week. It can be exhausting!

This poster on the subreddit Am I The A**hole wanted to know whether he was taking his girlfriend, an amazing chef (she sounds like some kind of kitchen witch, actually), for granted. Her cooking was so amazing he saw no reason to go out to restaurants anymore – the food wasn’t as good, and he was saving big bucks besides.

AITA for very rarely/almost never wanting to go to restaurants because my girlfriend makes food that’s just as good, if not better, than restaurant food?

His girlfriend seemed put out by never getting wined and dined, so he wanted to know if he was in the wrong.

How could you expect to NOT be called an a$$hole in this situation? For reals…

Plus, she’s not going to get any better if she doesn’t experience new things…

The original poster (OP) updated us, too – he apologized and proposed.

She declined, though they didn’t break up.

Long story short? Reddit might have saved a relationship, because the responses to his question made him realize that not only was he being a jerk, he could lose a great woman, besides.

I hope there’s another update in a few months or a year in which she said yes! It’s not everyday you find a man willing to apologize, to change, and to recognize that he’s not worthy of you, after all.
