Mom Calls out Anti-Vaxxer Nonsense after Her Newborn Is Exposed to Measles

This is getting out of hand. Anti-vaxxers refuse the vaccinate their children based on concerns around potential vaccine injuries (which are exceedingly rare), concerns around links to autism (based on studies which have been debunked), or conspiratorial nonsense.

Due to pockets of anti-vaxxers, the number of measles outbreaks is increasing. This impacts more than just anti-vaxxers, though. The CDC doesn’t recommend the measles vaccine until children are one year old, so infants are vulnerable to infection. So are immune-compromised individuals and those who are allergic to vaccine components. These vulnerable people depend on herd immunity, which is the idea that everyone who can get vaccinated will get vaccinated.

Anti-vaxxers are putting this immunity in danger.

Jennifer Hibben-White posted about her experience on Facebook. Thankfully, her son didn’t get measles, but her story should be read by every anti-vaxxer.

She starts with a picture of her son, and then the facts:

Her doctor advised her to take precautions, which left her enraged (understandably):

She directs her rage at the ones who deserve it: those who have chosen not to vaccinate their children. And she doesn’t hold back:

Hibben-White reveals the heart-breaking reason that underlies why she’s so passionate about vaccinations—the loss of her daughter at five years old. She would have done anything to save her daughter, yet people are taking their access to life-saving vaccines for granted.

Finally, she calls out anti-vaxxers on their hypocrisy:

So savage.
