You ever watch that show How I Met Your Mother? Where the guy who’s not Bob Saget but has Bob Saget’s voice in the future for some reason tells his kids a story so long that they have children of their own or whatever before it’s over?
I watched a couple episodes but I never really got all that into it. I think a little bit of brevity might have done them some good. Like this other “how we met” story:
my grandma just asked me if i had a boyfriend and i was like “no” and she was like “well i went to a random funeral because i was bored and that’s how i met your grandfather” ??????

Well that’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard. So far. But check out some of the other stories in the replies.
10. My hero
Whoa, that is legitimately incredible.
my grandmother met my grandfather because he helped smuggle her out of the country during ww2 two and they came to america

9. Nun of your business
Well that is quite the turnaround.
My grandma met my grandfather because she was sending letters to her distant cousin of the same name who happened to be in the same WWII battalion and they got mixed up. He begged her to keep writing because he had no other family. She decided not to become a nun. ❤️❤️

8. Not left on read
How is it that in the past meeting someone seems so much harder AND so much easier?
My aunt Marion worked in a clothing factory producing army uniforms. She penned a short note, added her name and address and slipped it into a breast pocket on a khaki shirt. A soldier replied, they corresponded, and they were married for over 60 years.

7. A little push
This sounds like the beginning of a problematic fairytale or like…one of the more obscure Bible stories.
My father actually came for my aunt but she didn’t want him so my grandmother said – wait- we have six more…what about this one – and pushed my mother forward. And the rest is history… 🙂

6. Nice calves
I’m sure he loves to hear that comparison over and over.
My grandmother, then a widow, placed an ad to find a 4H calf for her son. Liked the guy selling it and eventually married him. Fo decades, she explained the start of their relationship as, “I advertised for a cow and got a man.”
So, that’s another option.

5. Square dancing
Seems rare that a story with that set up would end happily.
((My Mum And Dad were both dating other people. The four got talking and became friends. It soon became clear that the couples were the wrong way round. My parents got together and the other couple did too. Both lots got married and are still happy together now.))

4. Love languages
Was this just some sort of epic prank on his part?
My parents met at a family wedding where everyone was speaking Spanish and my mom thought my dad only spoke Spanish and so she struggled to speak with him for MONTHS until she finally found out that he spoke perfect English all along.

3. Persistence
I don’t know if this is cute or troubling.
My grandpa asked my grandma in the second grade, and kept asking until she said yes.

2. Boom
If at first you don’t succeed.
Pretty much same here! My grandfather dated my grandmother’s older sister for a bit and it was nottttt a love match. Started dating sister # 2, boom, married 50+ years. pic.twitter.com/2pRi1tz3qV

1. No chill
Accurate, I guess?
Unfortunately, Netflix has now replaced funerals as no. 1 pastime, greatly reducing the chance of meeting future husbands.

Come to think of it, I actually have no idea how my grandparents met. I should find out!
